Little Bunny Foo Foo Hopping Through the Forest…

If you didn’t finish singing the song while moving your hand like a bunny after reading the title of this post then there is something wrong with you. Just sayin’! I am thirty years-old (shhhh!  Don’t tell!) and I still  […]

It’s Spring!

Okay, maybe it’s not technically spring, but we’re getting a little closer everyday!  The weather here in Utah has been lovely the last couple of days.  With our luck we’ll get hit with a massive snowstorm next week.  That’s how […]

Coolest. App. Ever.

Okay, I might be exaggerating a little.  There are plenty of cool apps out there and I’ve barely started to scratch the surface on my blog here.  I will say that the one I am introducing today is pretty darn […]

Welcome to Music Mayhem!

Welcome to Music Mayhem!  My name is Brittany and I am currently working on my PhD in Music Education at the University of Utah.  The idea for this site came to me last week as I was walking to class and received a text message from a good friend and fellow music teacher inquiring about an iTunes app that I had recommended to him a few weeks prior.  It dawned on me that I spend a lot of time talking to fellow music educators and stealing sharing ideas.  It also dawned on me that after spending hours trolling Pinterest for music websites and blogs in order to compile an extensive list of music technology resources for the students in my general music methods class that there really isn’t one website or blog that encompasses the many different facets of music education.  So it was there in the middle of University Avenue that Music Mayhem was born!

So how is this site different from the many others out there?  There are six different pages on this site.

  • Classroom Connection: Helpful tips and tidbits about the music classroom such as music technology, music assessment, classroom decor, etc.
  • Lively Lessons: Free elementary general music lesson plans–my hope is to expand beyond elementary general music soon.
  • Awesome Apps: Information about helpful iPad and iPhone (iOS) music apps–there are just too many to include them in classroom connection, so they needed their own page!
  • Guitar Hero: Includes helpful tips for teaching beginning classroom guitar as well as some music that I arranged for my own classroom use that you can download for free.
  • Advocate!: Intended to keep music educators up-t0-date on the latest news and information regarding current issues in music education.
  • Music Macrology: MACROLOGY (noun)- lengthy and tedious talk expressing little of substance; a superfluity of words.  Music Macrology is a little blog that I started a few years ago that discusses all things regarding music pop culture.  Even though the blog was neglected for quite some time I decided to make a place for it on this site so that I could continue my ramblings in hopes that it will generate conversation and maybe the occasional laugh.

Thanks for stopping by!  Hopefully you’ll find the site helpful!  Please feel free to leave comments or shoot me an email, I’d love to hear from you!
