“Ain’t that Mister Mister…”

Okay, so I listen to all kinds of music and often times, I find myself listening to the same cheesy music that everybody else is listening to. I think that this blog just might be turning into some sort of music confessional. I mean I’ve already openly admitted to being a Creed fan, and liking Ke$ha’s Tik Tok, and I’ve only posted FOUR TIMES! In my defense however, I still don’t like Nickleback or anyone from American Idol–except Carrie Underwood. There you go, I still have a shred of dignity left.

Okay, so admitting my love of cheesy music brings me to the number one single on itunes right now, Hey Soul Sister by Train. I LOVE this song. I was hooked when I heard it for the first time–I credit the ukulele, anything involving a ukulele is awesome. I have also been screaming with excitement that Train has made a comeback as well–what can I say, I always root for the one hit wonders to keep on keepin’ on! What’s funny about all of this is that my husband LOATHES Train. We met during the summer of Drops of Jupiter–I’m a nerd who actually prefers to order my CD’s chronologically according to events in my life, another thing that drives my husband bonkers–and “B” immediately expressed distaste for the song. He thought the “hey-ey-ey-ey-ey-ey” part was annoying. Despite our difference we somehow managed to stay together–just kidding, I don’t like Train THAT much. However, I have always been a little stunned that anyone could dislike that song! Every time I think about it, I immediately have flashbacks to the summer of 2001 when my roommate “A” and I drove from Salt Lake City to Las Vegas belting that song at the top of our lungs. We literally had that track on repeat…the whole time.

Anyway, the reason for the stroll down memory lane is that my husband actually loves their new song, which I still find shocking–ironically enough Pat Monahan says “hey-ey-ey” in this song too, I’m just saying! So not only is Train coming back with a great hit single, they just might be picking up new fans! I thought that Train had completely fallen off the face of the earth and yet here they are! Their song has been topping the charts for 48 weeks now! Rock on Train!
